Real reviews from homeowners we’ve served across the KC metro, including Merriam and Johnson County.
5 out of 5 stars We are rehabbing a 1960 build with old hardwoods that had been covered by carpet for 35+ years. They were in bad shape, and my handyman tried to work the floors but couldn’t get them to look good.
5 out of 5 stars Justin, Brock, and Alida were fabulous from start to finish. Pricing was very reasonable, the work was beyond outstanding, and it was completed in stellar time. If you’re thinking about redoing your floors, look no further.
5 out of 5 stars Justin was awesome in explaining everything. My wife thought our floors were not salvageable, but Justin and his team made our floors look better than new. I’d tell anyone who needs hardwood flooring revived from the dead to contact JRK Flooring.
5 out of 5 stars We recently bought a house and had the existing hardwood floors refinished, and we removed carpet in several rooms and replaced it with hardwood. Justin Kelley and his small crew did an absolutely wonderful job for us.
5 out of 5 stars Justin and Brock did an amazing job refinishing our 106-year-old original hardwood floors. These floors were definitely not in great shape, and they got them looking amazing. Justin is super easy to work with, his prices are great, and the quality of his work is impeccable.
5 out of 5 stars This was the last step in our kitchen remodel, and we couldn’t be happier. The floor looks amazing. Justin was very professional, and Brock did an amazing job with special attention to detail. We highly recommend JRK Flooring.
FAQ Hardwood Flooring FAQs for Merriam Homeowners
A lot of Merriam homes date back to when the city incorporated in 1950 — is the original hardwood underneath our carpet worth saving?
Almost always, yes. Oak hardwood installed during Merriam’s mid-century building boom was milled thick, so even boards that look dull, stained, or scratched under old carpet usually have plenty of wood left to sand and refinish. We’ll pull back a corner and check during your walkthrough before recommending refinishing over replacement.
How much does hardwood flooring cost in Merriam?
It depends on square footage, the age and condition of your floors, and whether you need a full replacement or a refinish. We’ll come take a look and send a clear, itemized estimate, no vague ranges and no surprise line items once the crew arrives.
Merriam is split by Interstate 35 and Shawnee Mission Parkway — does that affect scheduling or drive times for a job on my side of town?
Not really. Merriam’s small footprint and quick interstate access mean our crews can reach either side of the city easily, so scheduling stays just as flexible whether you’re near the antique shops on Slater Street or out toward Turkey Creek.
How long does a typical refinish or install take in Merriam?
Most single-room jobs finish within a week to two weeks, depending on drying time for stain and finish coats. We’ll give you a realistic, room-by-room timeline during your free consultation before you commit to anything.
Is your work backed by a warranty?
Yes. Every installation and refinishing project we complete in Merriam is covered by a 1-year workmanship warranty.
Do you offer financing for Merriam homeowners?
We do. Visit our Financing page for options, or ask us about it directly during your in-home consultation.
